Positive Deviant Ms. Lindley Edwards Lindley Edwards is the Group Managing Director of AFG Venture Group and its various subsidiaries. The Group undertakes corporate advisory work which involves merger, acquisition, divestments, strategic consulting, fund raising and licensing for its client base of public and private companies based in Australia and in Asia. AFG Venture Group have a representative office in nearly every ASEAN country with full offices in India, Thailand and Indonesia. In addition AFG Venture Group have a joint venture with Gemini Carbon, the UK carbon trading company. Lindley’s work takes a whole of business approach and particularly specializes in working with companies that are emergent, are in growth phases or are facing market disruption. Areas that are focused on are the formation of sustainable business value, creation of new markets, trend identification, stakeholder involvement, intelligent risk management/mitigation, successful technology/intellectual property diffusion and building high performance teams. Previously Lindley was a State Manager (Vice-President) with Citibank. Prior to this position she spent nine years with Macquarie Bank and was an Associate Director with the Corporate Banking Division. Lindley has also worked on a secondment basis for Boston Consulting Group and has worked on a variety of Government projects. She is a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australia. Lindley holds two undergraduate degrees one in Accounting and the other in Banking and Finance. She also holds post graduate qualifications in Corporate Governance and Financial Services regulatory courses and is currently studying for a PhD in Philosophy. Lindley is a non-executive Director and Advisory Board member of various organizations. These include: Non Executive Director of Caerus Fund – a Turnaround Investment Fund; Non Executive Director – Asialink; Non Executive Director – Asia Society; Member, Australian Federal Government Co-Operative Research Committee; Non Executive Director – University of Western Sydney Foundation. Lindley has been a state finalist in the Telstra Businesswomen’s awards for Private Sector less than 100 employees. In the year 2000 Lindley was admitted to the Australian Businesswomen’s Hall of Fame. Her publications include: "From Invention to Investment" ; "Becoming Investment Ready"; "Risk, Risk Management and Closing the Deal"; "Making the Right Connections"; Reflections on Leadership – Exploring the Journey From Within” ( published by Asialink). Outside of her business portfolio Lindley has active interests in social justice areas such as indigenous, youth, environment and education. Mr. Laurent Labourmène Laurent Labourmene is an advisor and mentor, an international award winning social entrepreneur and a ‘maven’ and ‘connector’ for world-changing people and world-changing ideas. A spokesperson for leadership reform, his passion for revitalizing the art, science and craft of leadership is at the vanguard of innovation in the field. In addition to stewarding for-purpose ventures, Laurent advises, mentors and coaches decision makers and leaders across diverse fields and industries that are committed to creating better futures. In the December 2007 edition of Dumbo Feather, Pass it On, Laurent was one of 5 "remarkable individuals" interviewed. He was also recently invited to participate in Change, an international feature documentary which explores what “thought leaders” are doing to effect change in an increasingly complex world.
